FAQ's

Do I need to put down a deposit on my puppy?

Yes.  The deposit amount is $150 per puppy.

Are deposits refundable?

Deposits are non-refundable, 72 hours after transaction. 10% of all deposits is non-refundable.

What if my new puppy doesn't bond with our family?

Our top priority at Schnockers of Security is the puppy's happiness and well being.  Transitioning to a new home is a huge stress and time of confusion for the puppy, after all it's being taken from it's mother and siblings.  Please be patient with your new pup.  It can take up to 2 weeks before a puppy 'feels at home' in it's new home, so be patient please.  If, however, your puppy and family don't bond, we will refund 75% of your adoption fee, once the puppy has passed a physical exam.

Why aren't I receiving a full refund if I return a puppy?

Numerous environmental changes often create a trauma in the life of a puppy, there are therefore costs incurred. Costs include, but not limited to, veterinarian exams, special diets, and other re-handling expenses.

Have the puppies had their first shots?

Yes, puppies will have their first round of shots at 8 weeks

How will I pick up my puppy?

You and I will decide on a mutually satisfactory place to receive your new friend.  Most likely it'll be at our home in southern CO.

How do I pay for my puppy/deposit?

Schnockers of Security accepts major credit cards as well as PayPal for your convenience.   When picking up your puppy you may pay cash or by debit/credit card for the remaining balance due.

Will my puppy sleep through the night?

Probably not right away.  It's scary for a new pup to be on it's own, away from their mom and siblings!

What kind of food is my puppy eating currently?

Schnockers of Security proudly feeds all of our pups Purina Puppy Chow Healthy Morsels.  You will receive a weeks supply of food when you pick up your new puppy.

How do I change my puppies diet safely?

If you decide to feed your pup something else please transition their diet slowly (over a week), adding small amounts of new food to their existing diet while gradually reducing the 'old' food.  Making this transition too quickly could result in digestive issues.

Is my puppy house trained?

No, not yet but training has been initiated.  The puppies are paper trained.  House training usually is more successful after a puppy is 14-16 weeks old, before then their bodies and brains are too immature to understand the correlation between the need to eliminate and having to go outside.

What about the parents, may I see them please?

Of course!  We are proud of our parent dogs and encourage you to take a look at them.  Please see the Parents page for more info and photos.

Shed free/hypoallergenic dogs?  Tell me more!

Schnockers don't shed like most dogs. They will lose hair but it's more like how our hair is.  We 'shed' hair daily, about 100 strands or so, and that's very much how it is for a schnocker.  When you pet them you will NOT have a handful of loose hair afterwards.  This means no hair on your furniture, clothes and floors.  Because they don't shed, most people with dog allergy sensitivities have little to no issues with Schnockers.  YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY.

Is there any special grooming required for Schnockers?

Schnockers will require weekly brushing and hair cuts every 6-8 weeks.
